Italy Day 3 - St. Mary's (Major) Basilica

You guessed it, one of the four churches of Rome, putting me 75% of the way toward my goal of seeing all four! That's a C+, hmmm, which isn't very good. But it was well worth the taxi ride across town.

I think this was my favorite of the churches. Not as large as St. Peter's, but just as elaborate. Can you find Eva sitting in one of the chairs?

I still haven't quite figured out the name. I think the pope designates some churches as major or minor. In Italian this is called the Basilica di Santa Maria Maggiore. Our tour guide called it the Church of St. Mary the Major.

By any name it is exquisitely beautiful!
